Found this nauseating story about child predator very disgusting
Pls warn your children on lifts ,this morning a sad incident happened where 2 students from ngecha were given a lift by a man ,one alighted at St Paul kabuku where the other one proceeded with the evil driver as she was heading to manguo secondary which she didn't ,the evil man drove to the bushes where he did all he desired after that he told the girl he wants to kill her and took limuru kiambu rd and at eden tea plantations, the girl saw people picking tea she started screaming for help ,God gave the girl extra energy where she held the streering wheel where the vehicle headed to the ditch ,The tea pickers from eden tea and kiawaroga started screaming and the evil man fell in the hands of angry people na akapewa dawa by the angry mob before the police arrived ,he is now in Tigoni police stations and in this vehicle there were injections ,bones and tools I mean the vehicle is a hell subcounty ,the innocent girl is under medication and I wish her quick recovery mentally and physically so that she can resume back her classes .Thank you to my area people and the administration for rescuing this young soul and also for the quick response . On the side please tell your children not to accept lifts from strangers...that is advice that should always come out of your mouth.....

If the issue is that there are no 'good' schools around where we stay, how much would it cost to demand better of those that already exist? Juu hata hizo nzuri za mbali didn't just spring up from nowhere.....

za mbali especially public had a head start, either built by colonialists or level headed leaders who put a firm foundations for those schools, even kcpe / kcse exams results top performance revolves around them. some private schools also are just there to collect fees.

When I was in primary school, there were very very few private schools. I grew up in East London. Every 3km radius there was a public school. The schools were well equipped by Nairobi city council.

Personally I used to wake up at 7am. Leave the house at 7:30 and by 8am I was in school via route 11. Jioni I would be back at home by 5pm.

The kids of today are learning the hardships of kanairo at a very young age. They have to be up by 5am so that they can hike the bus by 6am. They get stuck in traffic for 2hrs! Same routine in the evening.

But parents are to blame also. Some parents want to live a short distance from their place of hustle but aren't concerned about the distance to their kids school.

Sometimes I see maisha ya mashinani being more quality than Kanairo. Kanairo is too much pressure.

If you have the ability, hama Kanairo enda mashinani.
Totally agree, parents even those who can afford school transport just end up punishing there children. Same children are pick at 5am , spend more than 2hrs in school bus criss crossing estates

It's your job as a parent to find these things for your child(ren).

I do not romanticize the past. Bad things happened to children (and adults too) and were swept under lots of rugs to "maintain the peace".

Bottom line, your kids are better off than you were with our current achievements. But it all depends on how dedicated parents are to ensuring their kids access everything available regardless of financial status.

First, you should know how many kids you can manage. It's no one else's fault if you have 3 kids and have to work 16 hours a day to support them. That's all on you!

Second, there's lots of free shit available even in Kenya for you and your kids' use.

Third, stay educated as a parent. Use the internet to learn. We live in a country where we're free to use YouTube or Google or whatever we want. Why spend 3 hours downloading content ya captain frisk when you can educate yourself on how to prepare your kids for life? It's tiring to even think about.

Etc etc etc.

I'm not a parent but I find myself confused at how many parents on ktalk and klist don't care to Google even a tiny bit for their children's sake.

Actually solution to this problem is to force people to take kids to only schools within their area could be even county ward. That way people will be more concerned with how their local area schools are run and hold those running them accountable.Same way we should enforce that an elected leader of an area has to be a resident of said area atleast for a period of time and continue being resident even after elections!
Don’t even get me started on forcing public officers/servants or anyone who draws salary from government from not seeking treatment abroad on tax payers expense. If I had my way would go as far as saying medical insurance for all public servants only covers public hospitals mtu akitaka kwenda private hospital ajilipie!!

Polisi watarajiwa

This is a polite reminder that the D and D+ scores you see at the bottom of those lists, and who nobody is throwing up and down in the air in celebration, will join the Kenya Defence Forces in the January 2022 recruitment. They will train at RTS for only nine months before being posted to their units. There, they will have a job that is permanent and pensionable (they become pensionable after serving only 12 years), a lifetime medical cover and no-limit treatment at the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital (which is reputed to have some of the best facilities, doctors and medicine), post-retirement cover under the Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme (DEFMIS) and tax-free shopping at Defence Forces Canteen Organisation (DEFCO). Their service ID will also give them free pass on the roads and immunity from police harassment, as well as no-queue status at public service points.

Meanwhile, the ones we are throwing up and down as we sing "Amenitendeaaaa!", will finish their degrees, print many CVs and buy a tonne of brown envelopes, walk the tarmac like Limuru donkeys, beg for jobs and basically become experts at saying "serikali ingilia kati".

This life has a strange formula.
