WHO Guidelines for the Vaccine Passport

Summary: WHO has published a "guiding document" for countries and implementing partners on the introduction of digital vaccine certificates, dubbed DDCC:VS.

Overview of the document
This is a guidance document for countries and implementing partners on the technical requirements for developing digital information systems for issuing standards-based interoperable digital certificates for COVID-19 vaccination status, and considerations for implementation of such systems, for the purposes of continuity of care, and proof of vaccination.

The work was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gate's Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation, among others.

It will happen soon as countries seek normalcy and return of the hospitality and aviation industry. Many countries need this revenue and are looking forward to opening up their countries.

I could be ignorant but how different is it to the yellow fever cert that one needs to visit many nations including our neighbours Uganda & Rwanda?
The last time I tried discussing this with you, ulicheka na ukasema “mungu anisaidie kunyamaza” 😄

Anyways I’m beginning to learn that many people have no interest in critical thought and in thinking ahead in terms of what could go wrong. Skepticism is not ingrained in many peoples minds.

More importantly, I’m beginning to learn that many people prefer communication via memes so that they can ignore the message and laugh at whatever the meme shows 😄. Research and actual reading is not preferred.

Compliance without question for small personal comforts is more preferable.

So here we go with today’s meme 😄

Also, you could be overthinking, ama deep into conspiracy theories yourself. Never dismiss that too.

Do you have an ID? Passport? Driver's License? PIN number? Perhaps even a huduma number card?

This is very likely. I’ve been reading a lot of non-mainstream information. Lots of research that could possibly be leading me to overthink. But I consider this okay. I think it’s good to indulge in information that challenges the generally agreed thought process.

Yes I do. The only one I don’t have is the huduma number. I still haven’t seen the need for it in my life right now. Maybe I’ll get it when I need it.
However, none of those documents are pegged on my health.

What is the distinction? All of the documents i inquired about are things needed to do certain things within this country and travel. Many Schools requiring you to show proof of vaccination before admiting children is already an example of this having been in place for decades. Why is the one pegged on your health different?

I don’t have kids so I may not know what has been happening since I left school life, but which schools require proof of vaccinations? I.e before Covid? And even now during Covid in Kenya?
Myself for all my school life I never required to show any proof of vaccination.

By the way, I asked the same question to a medic who posed that we have ‘always’ been getting booster shots for the flu and I asked her why have I never gotten a vaccine for the flu or an annual booster shot.

So now you need another document like all the others showing that you are vaccinated to travel (at least across borders). What is the issue? Like someone mentioned earlier up there, yellow fever and other vaccine certificates have been needed when traveling abroad pre-covid. It's not a new thing so why the disagreement about this one particular vaccine if one wants to travel?

Regarding your question on what schools have been requiring vaccination proof, mainly pre-schools (nursery level) because of the age of the children and their susceptibility to diseases. And yes, this was happening pre-covid.

Why is the one pegged on your health different?
Hadn’t seen this part.
Because first health is a very private thing. Even people with TB, which is transmissible via air, are not required to have a passport showing they are taking medication.
The current flu you have to be tested to know you have it.
I don’t want to be discriminated based on my health status. Or choices relating to my health.
if I get HIV today, nobody will discriminate against me if I didn’t take medication, I’ll just die.
Having a vaccine passport helps nobody. Why? Coz the vaccine does not prevent transmission, does not prevent infection, it only purportedly reduces the severity of my personal symptoms if I catch the flu.

I would take Yellow fever coz it’s not an experimental vaccine. It’s been tried and tested. It came into use in 1938. The medical issues are known based on extensive testing.

This particular vaccine is an experimental vaccine. It has many unknown symptoms and I don’t need it coz my health is okay. Further, the choice to not take the vaccine affects no one other than myself coz the vaccine does not prevent transmission or infection.

They won't discriminate if you stay at your place. But of you venture out into public space, especially foreign public space, covid being covid and being deadly and all, you have to go by them.
