And others toa maoni on reducing wastage

When Elon Musk says inflation is caused by excessive government expenditure he is correct. What Milei did is cut government costs.

Milei fired at least 50,000 government employees. Imagine if Ruto did this.

Ruto cut development expenditure and halted new, unbudgeted road projects, but watu wa 'maendeleo' na mabarabara wanted to hang him for it.

Ruto cut consumption subsidies and certain fellows from a particular umbrella coalition came out on the streets with sufurias on their heads, causing untold damage, telling Ruto to return subsidies and reduce the cost of Unga. Now that the price of Unga is down, they same fellows are telling us the economy can not be measured by the cost of Unga.

If Ruto even attempted to implement a quarter of what Milei had done in Argentina, you are the same people who will be posting images of the presidential funeral procession telling us Ruto has died. Begging God to kill him.

Cutting down on development expenditure while doubling up on government wastage and unnecessary spending is self contradictory. Add to that the attempt to increase taxation to support government wastage. It is inevitable that citizens will sense the contradictions when a government dedicates several billions to repair state houses while demanding austerity. And don't resort to the usual refrain that those few billions don't account for much.
When a leader preaches austerity, they should lead by example as the belt-tightening applies to all.

They decreased. You are looking at what he inherited and what he implemented.
I am looking at 2023/24 financial year that ended in June. Ruto was incharge for that entire financial year. It clearly shows there was an increase from 493Billion (22/23) under Uhuru to 546 Billion.(23/24)

Where's your source showing that development expenditure decreased?

Where did you pull this figure of 'doubling wastage' and unnecessary spending?
Furthermore, statehouse is not Ruto's house. I don't see how any of us is fit to comment on the cost of refurbishing the establishment.

On taxes, you fail to appreciate the hole the country is in. First, in order to get funding from IMF we had to raise revenues as suggested by them. On top of that, Kenya had to raise revenues in order meet its debt obligations. While you were enjoying cheap fuel, cheap power tokens, and cheap Unga that disappeared after a week, you should have been asking yourself where that money to make it cheap was coming from.

Instead you want to hound the Kenyan Milei out of power. Go on YouTube and see the protests that were there after Milei began implementing his policies.

Tell me this video doesn't describe the exact policies Ruto is implementing and isn't the whining and protesting exactly the same.

This is where you get it all wrong. One, do you want to tell me that the previous president was occupying an unfit building? Two, you need to understand that the statehouse scenario is replicated all across government departments, where people justify spending saying its not their 'house'. This spending amounts to billions that could plug deficits in other areas and even reduce borrowings. Most importantly, it would also help to instill a sense of responsibility in managing public resources.

The argument here is not initial budget. It's the actual development expenditure.

Just tell us from that same source what was the actual development expenditure in FY22/23 v FY23/24.
You don't make sense, coz you want to drive an agenda thru lies. The fact remains he trimmed the budget he inherited. Definitely you can see the screenshot is a treasury budget review document. Even the very document you are trying to quote, can't you see the actual cuts, exactly what I am stating? Ama delusion znakufanya uone vitu zako?

The discussion was good but you are starting to get emotional.

Let me put the actual figures then.

21/22- Uhuru 540 billion
22/23- Uhuru 3 months Ruto 9 months 490B
23/24- Ruto 546 billion

Has development expenditure increased or decreased?
