We cannot continue destroying the economy with stay at home orders when research shows masks work.
Secondly you said we're building capacity. Where is research done by local scientists to show the effectiveness of masks??? That's why I say we are just copying what Europe and US is doing.
Still there. Its working in other countries. US are forcing it not to work there

Social distancing and hygeine measures complement each other, when used together they are foolproof but not always practical or kind to both our way of life and the economy.
You can only depend on face masks and hygeine measures alone where people are very disciplined, they have to have the right face masks, wear them properly and avoid taking them off, to build that kind of discipline takes some time, tuseme the level of discipline will depend on how persuasive government officials and health sector officials are, we've seen protesters in Australia, UK and the US donning masks and keeping them in place, that is a good sign.
But notice the study says "to prevent surges" which means there shall be new infections even where face masks are donned religiously, that risk has to be one the government can comfortably accomodate.

Medical staff wear hazmat suits when treating covid-19 positive patients and N95 masks while treating everyone else. Everyone else in a hospital must wear a surgical mask. That's the protocol.
Now answer my question, are or are you not pushing the narrative that wearing a mask is more important thank social distancing?

My point is wearing a mask is more important than the 2 metres social distancing. If you were to go to a public place which option would you pick:
a) Social distancing of 2 metres with no mask.
b) No social distancing but everyone wears a mask.

I have been to a hospital twice in the last 2months and social distancing is being observed, only a given number of patients are allowed into the premises at any given time and seats are spaced out
