New study shows masks supercede social distancing in prevention of Covid 19

I have been to a hospital twice in the last 2months and social distancing is being observed, only a given number of patients are allowed into the premises at any given time and seats are spaced out

So for example the hospital watchman is always 2 metres from everyone entering?

So when you say everyone else in a hospital wears a surgical mask do they observe the 2 metres social distancing?

My point is wearing a mask is more important than the 2 metres social distancing. If you were to go to a public place which option would you pick:

a) Social distancing of 2 metres with no mask.
b) No social distancing but everyone wears a mask.

I wouldn't choose to go to either of those places. I always wear a mask in public and wont go into crowded public places. I understand some people have to work in crowded environments (duka za nyamakima) in order to survive. However, we should be finding ways to encourage socia distancing even in informal businesses, not negate its importance.

They are not always 2m while frisking. We can file that under unavoidable contact. Just like your visit to the triage nurse, dentist, optician etc. That's why we call the front line workers.

There was an error in my statement. I meant to ask you why you think that wearing a mask is more important than social distancing. I will ask you a follow up question. The experts recommend social distancing AND wearing masks. Why should we relax social distancing rules?

We should relax social distancing rules because the masks can take care of that.

Everything has its limitations, the watchman has to frisk you but that does not make social distancing unnecessary, the same way you have to take your mask off when having a tooth pulled out by the dentist, it doesnt invalidate the need to have your mask on the rest of the time.

I took the trouble and checked the tweet you based this assertion on. It misrepresents the Juarnal article. This is directly from the abstract:

We conclude that wearing of face masks in public corresponds to the most effective means to prevent interhuman transmission, and this inexpensive practice, in conjunction with simultaneous social distancing, quarantine, and contact tracing, represents the most likely fighting opportunity to stop the COVID-19 pandemic.

@Okiya, stop torturing the facts to confess your lie.

Even if you keep yapping the truth is that no govt measures have worked. Farting in the wind
If Corona would have been that fatal in Africa,we would be dead.

Copying Europe is one of the shitty ideas of the gok
It is true that there is no government in the world that has succeeded 100 per cent.
It is also true that some countries were hit harder than others because they were more lax in their response than others.
It is shitty thinking however to say a country shouldn't have done what others were doing and what the WHO were recommending so they are not seen "to be copying Europe (whenever that became a sin!)".
Maybe we should have left things to take their natural course like Burundi.

Study this chart well especially scenario B and C.

I don't understand why you persist, of course masks work. Thing is not all areas of the economy will come back to normalcy. Bar and restaurants I mean.
Kisha this mask has to be worn to cover the mouth and nose, without need for police follow up.
The initial lock down was to counter the situation out of fear of the unknown, otherwise Kenyans and most around the world wouldn't take this seriously.

Don't be afraid, be brave..... I've never worn a mask and I always choose very crowded places and I am fine

Did you bother reading the Juarnal article ama ni just parroting someones else misrepresentations? If you wish to learn, don't have a very rigid position. Allow yourself to change your position when presented with new information even when changing your position is unpalatable. We have these discussions to inform and educate each other.

even when changing your position is unpalatable
Changing positions should never be unpalatable, in fact it is something one should be happy about coz it often means you've learnt something you didn't know or new information has opened your mind.

Did you read this paragraph in the article and their views of social distancing?
