Kalonzo seizes the opportunity

That's a very valid question in my opinion.
If the fertilizer is free shouldn't the price then be what the government spent on transporting it to Kenya?
Unfortunately, Rao is peddling propaganda that was debunked last month.

I think if we put to context it will be better to understand.

1. There's a Russian company that donated fertilizer to a number of African countries.

2. A social media post started circulating indicating that the Russian embassy had noted the free fertilizer was being sold.

3. Russian embassy came out and said that the social media post is fake.

4. The debunking you're talking about is not whether the fertilizer is free or being sold, it's whether the post came from the embassy.

Now that that is clear, do we have evidence of people getting the fertilizer for free?

As usuall we miss a point by miles. The biggest problem with our food situation is post harvest losses. We lose at least 40% of our food to post harvest loss. Lakini we are all idiots that must listen to the likes of Nabii and his wafuasi. Everyone must buy into the fake fertilizer subsidy because we are too lazy to question the powers that be.

Ulizeni Nabii what he will do with the next bumper maize harvest. Tuache ufala! NKT!

First of all, that name Nabii is so comical.

Anyway, in the debate, Ruto spoke about agriculture more than anything else. Not shocking as he hails from North Rift. I can't recall whether he spoke about storage but that's something that is basic and is tied to the prices offered by the Cereals and Produce Board.

I kinda feel some of you Azimio guys mmekaza jamaa aanguke instead of being optimistic and acknowledging some of the good done, chief being the campaign promise of lowering fertiliser prices being fulfilled.

Why would I want Nabii to fail? My mother taught me not to oppose an ordained leader. She warned me that I could be beaten with thunder. I only fear hot porridge, electricity and thunder. 😁

Why are you climbing the tree from the top? We start with planting then harvesting. So if people are not planting because of high fertilizer cost, then post harvest losses will just compound an already existing scarcity.

That is why you start with cheap fertilizer. You focus on helping farmers to plant more so that even with losses at harvest, you might have a surplus. This is basic tried and proven policy.

Are you familiar with premature optimization? Do you know anything about operations management? Why would you need to produce more when you have a problem with warehousing and logistics? Unajua @Guoka anaweza kusema hiyo ni bobono thinking 🤔

That is not how dry grain works. You literally just have to retain I think 13-15% moisture in maize and then store it away from direct sunlight and moisture especially for subsistence farmers.

Bulk handling is only a major problem for commercial farmers who are actually the lowest percentage. So all you really need to do this coming season with the projected yield is to ensure the country is not importing maize, and prioritize local produce. Once we have the data from NCPB on whether there is a deficit, then we can import. That has been the problem. Wakora importing when we don't need to then the grain overstaying in the silos and going bad.
