then let these African countries train their own doctors.. if you send a young person to train medicine on other peoples taxes... don't you think that country will do alot to retain them.

I absolutely agree with @emali, if we want to retain people in our African continent then we need to develop infrastructure to provide opportunities for them. This can be done through good policies and enforcement of the same. Most people who go to the west and eveb the east do it because it is profitable for them.

Its not those countries that want to keep the trained African professionals

Its the African professionals that prefer to stay there while knowing very well they are needed more in Africa.

because those countries offer them better conditions and pay... that is enticing them to stay

Generally, for an African trained US/UK etc choosing to go back to Africa and work is a patriotic sacrifice.

Africans are NOT know for patriotic sacrifices.

There is also the frustrations of sacrificing to leave a well paying job to return to work here and then watch the leadership steal and mess up everything
