By who?

Ordinary ethanol is drinking alcohol. Ethanol in a lab or industrial context is a poison. Both lab ethanol and methylated spirit have methanol, a poison, added to stop human consumption. Methylated spirit has an unpleasant colour and smell added for the same reason.

Governments earn billions from alcoholic drinks. Sirikali hates losing taxes. They can go to war for it!

100% ethanol is not poisonous unless taken in large quantities. You ordinary whiskey is around 40% ethanol while your village changaa could be as high as 86% alcohol.

Methanol, a lethal industrial alcohol with similar characteristics to ethanol is used in production of lab and industrial ethanol. A 25ml (slightly over 1.5 tablespoons) of methanol is enough to kill you.

In any case, lab safety measures require that you don't ingest anything that has passed through a chemical lab. Don't eat there, don't take your food there, don't eat anything from there.

Hapo kuna chida. I thought micro-breweries for local brews got parliamentary approval. I'm not sure about this. Can anyone check the national assembly's website?

What are the legal requirements for brewing and selling mnazi or muratina?
