THREE suspects of Obtaining Money by False Pretences were yesterday arrested within Nairobi town after they defrauded a man Ksh. 410,000/- while pretending to be in a position to help him get recruited as a KDF Officer.

Having been lured into the trap by one Mr. Paul Parsamei SIRERE the victim had met the trio at Accra Hotel-Nrb on 2nd Jan, 2020, & upon giving the cash issued with KDF Calling Letter.

They had agreed to meet again yesterday for yet another deal to "help" a relative of the victim get enrolled.

However, on showing the letter to a friend, he had become suspicious & sought clarification from DCI Detectives from DCI Central-Nrb & Military Police who found the calling letter to be fake.

The joint team of officers launched a manhunt for the suspects & ambushed them at the meeting venue yesterday where upon search three more fake KDF calling letters were confiscated.

Sirere, Jackline MAGAYA & Alex KINGWA placed in custody pending arraignment to answer to charges of Obtaining Money by False Pretences contrary to section 313 of the Penal Code.

I need to ask, these people who get conned that will be given posts in police force or KDF, where do they get all this money from?
Coz they are not usually upper or even middle class people..where do you pull 400k from to pay someone to "get you a job"?
Like this Maasai man I imagine he went to relatives who threw him a cow and a goat here and there to sell.

They borrow from relatives and friends. And dispose of family assets like livestock. I've seen some take SACCO loans as well.

Surely of all the relatives and friends you are going to ask for donations to amass even 200k, not 1 smells something dodgy about this whole deal?
And what about the sacco? Even if you have saved 100k in the last 3yrs and you walk in suddenly saying you want to borrow say 200k, they are going to be hesitant wont they? What is the reason for the loan that you will put down on on the application?

There's always a story of that one friend or relative who gave and actually got the job.
It's not like they give knowing fully that it's a con.

It's called the convincing power coupled with the level of desperation. You are withdrawn from reality until the money is conned then you come back to default settings

But what do you report to DCI ? So were pia ndani or they kamua you what is left bila lube?

They take loans, sell livestock pieces of land na kuomba relatives. Nao wakipenya waingie they never get peace. Even that guy that gave him 2K will always be calling in favours and what not. Akatae kupeana jina iharibiwe kwa Kijiji. So it's never blissful hata wakiingia
