But childcare itself is a problem. Huko hakuna mboch wa kulipa 6k. You pay through the nose for a proper Nanny and many people usually have to really struggle before their kids start going to school. Even then, younger kids who have to leave school by 3pm will usually need some care between then and the time you have to leave work at 5pm and drive through traffic to get home to them. That means many who can't afford proper childcare usually end up having to decide which spouse will stop working and stay at home to be the primary caregiver.

You are right. I saw no point in working for the first 5 years. I made the most of my lengthy maternity leave by breastfeeding until nearly 4.

You know what I don't get, why do people religiously follow these clowns. Include bahati in that list. At least willy paul finally gave up the pretenses. Religion is a big business in this country but the problem is not the religion, it is the fact that most people lack critical thinking skils aamd the rest of us look like zealots whenever we question some of these things.

Are you in the UK? True, there is the childcare tax credits subsisdy. It was a conscious choice for my family for me to stay home. I didn't see the point of working and paying someone to look after the kid. I appreciate not everyone has the same luxury or is willing to make the same sacrifice.

I studied there in the late 90's and early 2000's. I think you have a very fair system. I have relatives who live in America and they don't get the same. Its really tough out there.
