Bro that's why we need vibrant opposition to keep the government on toes, by now Rao ought to have a shadow cabinet !
Analysing government policies and its intentions .dissecting every government moves and feeding the public with true, correct information ! Sio kila siku, ruto this rigathi impeachment !
I don't know if to laugh or cry.

EPRA is only concerned by those producing 1MW and above, not people producing power for domestic consumption
Let's talk of tea factories for example.
They generate their own power to run their factories. No sales of power to outsiders. They produce tea which is subject to excise duty, vat, NEMA, kebs and all those other taxes.
What justification is there to tax their power?

They sell extra power to Kenya power, they are licensed. They pay tax for the extra they sell to kenya power.
Those power plants cost them over a billion shillings. They have complied with the law.

They sell what they can't use to KPL.

Would they still need a license if they weren't selling?
Secondly, I want to believe they sell when their production is off-peak, say at night. And they pay tax on it.
Then when they are running at peak and buy extra, they pay tax too.

Anyway, what do I know?

kwani io licence mnapinga ivo mtu analipa billions?

I get you.
You happen to be the most sober minded guy here, unlike the Uwesmake I know.
Anyway, it makes sense from your explanation.

Am just anti-licensing coz in most cases, there's no commensurate value from the authorities.
Kama ukipaka nyumba yako rangi lazima upewe license. Ukitaka kuendesha gari yako lazima ukue na renewed licence.

The justification is "they should be taxed"
