Golf/Country Club Membership

What are the benefits of becoming a member of these golf/country clubs assuming that you can afford the membership?

This specifically goes to existing members, what is the biggest advantage/value proposition of joining one?

Lastly, which golf/country club would you rank highest in Nairobi? Karen? Muthaiga? Windsor?

First of all Muthaiga forget it. Too long of a waitlist. So many people with very deep pockets cannot access it.

The benefits of becoming a member is there's an unspoken bond of trust among members. It's easier to do business among members because of this bond. Referring someone who later breaks this bond with a member can jeopardize your membership there.

Some also offer free access to other golf clubs/ courses worldwide e.g. Muthaiga. This to me is my biggest benefit especially if you travel a lot.

These are also retreats from the bustle of everyday life. It's good to have a place where you can have a decent meal, workout, swim, watch a movie, hold a business meeting even though you have all these at home.

Social capital. Access to goal courses worldwide is same as access to airport lounges worldwide because you have a platinum card! Not an every day benefit! Mr. Dollar sign, join a club to build your social capital and network. Sio hizo vitu Zingine!
I have seen club members settle a medical bill of 20M in a day!
I guess it's a slow day but I'll indulge you... Now that access you get at say Aberdeen in Scotland exposes you to the wazito of that golf course and perhaps even the owner, Tulamp. Thereby increasing the reach of your "social capital".

Plus its not so easy as we may like it to be. You need serious networking and introductions before even scratching the surface.

Think of your local pub where you drink regularly. Think of the friends you have made there. And the connections.

Now Think of those friends as some people of value and class.

If you want a place that you can be going to have a drink or just chill quietly they certainly are good places to go. And golf doesnt even have to be a feature. e.g Nairobi club

Best thing I can think of is that you can drink your WhiteKAP on 90 days credit...............no need for a paybill πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚

And you don't need to join these expensive Nairobi ones. Go and join Molo or whatever Golf Club - most clubs in Kenya have something called reciprocation.

Ukijoin moja you have joined them all...................

@Mongrel, can we start The Ndeiya Golf Club?
