Electricians in the house

So yesterday evening we had unstable power supply in our area with bouts of extremely high and extremely low voltage. Before I could act it had taken out all the bulbs that were on at the time. The surge also took out my laptop charger as well. Good thing the other electronics are OK. So today I replaced bulbs and the laptop charger but I noticed something peculiar. The bulbs on the ground floor do not work but the sockets are OK. However, the top floor's bulbs are OK as well as the sockets. My power supply is three-phase with each one of the two floors having its own main switch. What could be the likely issue before I get the electrician so that I go in somehow informed nisigongwe sana.

I'm not an electrician. Have you checked the fuses on the failing lines?

Maybe trip switch ya bulbs imeharibika. First, confirm that it is switched on because it could have tripped. You can also check whether it is the issue by replacing it with the one from the other floor.
Yeah UPEPO the trip switch iliharibika just switched them with my layman knowledge. I bet I can just purchase it and replace without really summoning an electrician. Thanks for the tip.

The reason why i like circuit breakers is that they never allow high voltage to pass through. When high voltage is detected,it switches off unlike the fuses which just regulate the current which passes through. So this might help you in the future to prevent damages on the electronics in the house.

By the way they can save one a lot of money from unnecessary repairs. I will definitely look into them. yesterday night it felt like the bulbs were smoldering then a small pop sound ni kama zina burst. Thought it was a paranormal attack. :D

I disagree on the use of the word never....I know I've had a 20k+ repair bill and yet the house had circuit breakers.

Some electrical faults are extreme but Kenya Power usually knows about such and prepare to give the affected the run-around. If you are persistent, they will compensate you.
