Ehe , na watu wa Ngong road wakitaka kuja Thika road wata park wapi .Angalau there is a park and ride at Kasarani and Ruiru (not sure where this is ) .This project is a good idea on paper but the implementation is wanting.

The project alignment is along Thika Superhighway from Ruiru to Kenyatta National Hospital through Nairobi CBD, totalling 27 km. The project commenced on 4th August, 2020 and is being undertaken by STECOL Corporation in joint venture with SMEDI.

The project will be implemented in two phases;

  1. Phase I: Clayworks – Kenyatta University – Githurai – Kasarani – Pangani Underpass – Murang’a Road – Globe Cinema Overpass – Tom Mboya Street – Moi Avenue (approximately 20 km).
  2. Phase II: Ruiru – Membley Junction – Clayworks section (approximately 3 km) and Moi Avenue – Haile Selassie Avenue – Kenyatta National Hospital (approximately 4 km).
The project involves, among others, the following;

  • Construction of dedicated BRT lanes (20.18 km).
  • Construction of 13 No. intermediate BRT stations including conversion of existing 10 No. footbridges along Thika Road into BRT stations.
  • Construction of BRT terminal at KNH and depots at Ruiru and Kasarani.
  • Construction of a transfer station at Nairobi Railway Station.
  • Construction of Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) facilities along the corridor.
  • Provision of automatic traffic signals for Pangani Underpass.

As @Okiya says, the whole idea is to have people leave their cars behind. Private cars cause congestion in the city. Once those buses are operational, they should increase the cost of parking in CBD for private cars. Something similar to congestion tax in London.
Actually just increasing the cost of parking to like 1k per day would decongest the city without much more planning

We are talking of Thika road , reli iko wapi hapo ama ni mimi sielewi kizungu
There is a commuter rail that serves ruiru, githurai and other parts of the city and the idea was to have people drive to the train stations park their cars and use the rail to town....it is a similar model to some extent and it might be worth drawing lessons from that project to improve the BRT....ama you do not know about the nairobi commuter rail service?

And its a big joke kwa ground i have been to Ruiru station the parking is there but train ni moja asubuhi and another in the evening . The train leaves the station before 7am at Ruiru station , hakuna any other train to town mpaka kesho yake .Here is a capture on the parking lot . On unrelated note i am filled with tears of joys seeing company like Danco Capital part of Spinners and Spinners Group wamejaza roof zao na solar panel . F&** KPLC

I think 150 is inclusive of parking
Not really , apparently ata the station will not be hapo KNH since the proposed area Nairobi Hospital wanajenga a Cancer Centre instead the station imekuwa moved to somewhere hapo National Library .

“The fares will be charging is Sh150 along the Kasarani-Kenyatta National Hospital line that we hope to start operating come June on a pilot basis,” said Mr Gitau yesterday. Currently, to travel from Kasarani to Kenyatta National Hospital, passengers must use two buses and it will cost about Sh120 for the one way trip.

It's not that simple. You decongest the city the way you are suggesting when you have plan B like an effective rail or BRT. Right now there is no plan B.
It would be about leaving the vehicles at home, everybody has access to public transport wherever they leave

The station at buru buru and jogoo road would be a good place to start....and if it did not work, can they use the lessons learnt to improve on the current project so it does not stall and fail like the commuter rail service?

We have fantastic plans on paper but somehow some of the people entrusted with implementing them don't use their brains . Someone explain to me how there is a concrete footbridge with a span less than 60 metres being constructed hapo Muthaiga golf club with road scheduled to be closed for some hours on 12 ,14 and 15 February 2022. A footbridge is good thing but the one being constructed would not accommodate a dual carriage (requires a 60 metres road reserve) whereas there are plans to have Kiambu road dualled soon infact the EISA is out already .

The same cock-up happened along Northern bypass near Kamuthi Housing where an overpass was constructed to serve Kamuthi and Jacaranda but the overpass span can't accommodate a dual carriage northern bypass. This bridge was just done recently less than 5 years ago . Pure short-sightedness. In the near future the same bridge will be brought down since Northern bypass will be the only road which will not be dualled in the Nairobi bypass ring .
The question is, how hard cant it be to plan ahead ?
