The best systems out there leave a robust audit trail that's hard to beat. Both manual and electronic systems should be used in a complementary way to beat rigging and improve transparency. It's hard to satisfy everybody, but I believe that Chebukati could have done more with technology. See my comments above regarding the unavailability of a results streaming service. Kenyans techies can build it easily.

Boss, you do realise that ours is a manual election, right? The tech utilized is top notch with a very good audit trail, but all I see here are people claiming falsely how numbers in the forms have been changed and all...You are not addressing the issue here which is fake news and information that has been presented before the court....How in your mind do you suggest tech will be utilised to stop raila from presenting false claims of rigging?

The technology utilized has some gaps like a streaming results service. Such a service would beat fake news because it would automatically updates the cumulative sum for each candidate. Anomalies would be easy to detect using the scanned and physical 34A as well as the audit logs.

Why are you struggling with this streaming service? You are just telling us to repeat the mistakes of 2017.

If we are to have what you are describing, we can't have data being keyed in anywhere. The voting must be electronic to cut out human error. That means our elections and civil education must mature organically, si kulazimisha vitu.

Livestreaming results has been used, quite successfully I must add, to paint IEBC as conspirators in rigging schemes, remember the algorithm shenanigans in 2017?

The problem with livestreaming is its vulnerability to manipulation and sabotage by trojan horses like Cherera, you only need a few ROs to post the wrong results and just like that results become inaccurate, their credibility questionable and verifiability deemed impossible.

Uploading scanned copies of the original forms on the other hand is a masterstroke, anyone interested in tallying the results did it and arrived at a Ruto win which IEBC simply confirmed, it could be better but this works for us.

These are what you might call the kicks of a dying horse. It will thrash vigorously but eventually itatulia. One major reason I voted for Ruto was because we needed to get away from the Odingas, Kenyattas and Moi's. Fortunately they bore very soft and incompetent sons and daughters.

We are moving into a new chapter but the past will try to cling on but eventually they will fall off.

I have said that Livestreaming can be implemented from KIEMS kits data. All that's requires is a secure private network with end to end data encryption. Once that data arrives at the server, it can be securely stored with the help of Blockchain technology.


Well designed systems should be rebust enough to withstand internal attacks. Advanced systems have sophisticated anomaly detection algorithms inbuilt.
