The brain remains one organ that medics have a long way to go, before making major breakthroughs.

My thoughts about it exactly. What do you consider mental illness? Depression? Stress? Ama degenerative diseases and conditions of the brain.
How do you treat someone who wants to kill themselves over a girl?
Anti-depressants? They just dull the brain while not resolving anything.
Counseling maybe because at least then someone can vent out their frustrations.
But honestly if someone wants to kill themselves no amount of meds or talk will change anything. It doesn't mean you do not try because the nature of death and especially through suicide is that those bereaved always wonder if they could have done anything to stop it. Guilt.

People get dumped and rejected everyday. If it was normal behaviour to kill oneself after such an experience, I think we'd have a serious population problem on our hands, no?
