Money hungry government proposing tolls.

Roads tolls were initially introduced in Kenya in the late 1980s, but were scrapped in the mid-1990s in favour of the Roads Maintenance Levy to eliminate corruption at toll stations. The levy is currently charged at Sh18 per litre for petrol and diesel.
MPs want to approve the toll fee legislation ahead of Parliament’s long recess in May, setting the stage for the introduction of the fees in the new financial year starting July 1.

The list of highways, where motorists may soon start paying includes Nairobi-Nakuru, Nairobi-Mombasa, Nairobi -Thika and Nairobi’s Southern Bypass.

Hapa naona cost of transport going up especially since the main corridor ya trucks will be tolled .Mombasa -Nairobi- Nakuru . @Meria naona SGR is being pushed to kick you out of business .
Imagine paying more for Thika road then you are stuck from Garden city to Pangani .

They should also give people alternative routes to use if you cannot pay the tolls thingy!
Ideally yes , but for instance someone from Pangani to Thika which other cost effective route would he use ?
They should have retained the fuel levy but ensure all the loop holes are sealed i.e get value for money from the contactors doing the roads.
For instance the Debroso guys maintaining Thika road (CBD - Ruiru section) seems to be doing shoddy job compared to the billion + that they will pocket.
And then for a road kama Thika road reintroduce Thika - Nairobi passenger train and ease the wear on the road.
