For me it's a good thing, the Pokots banditry is now an issue of national discussion, there are people who have never been back to their ancestral home since 1999, it's time to deal with it, having people squatting in other people land and having 20Km of uninhabited land due to banditry should be given the seriousness it deserves, places with high agricultural potential, but can't be/hadn't been farmed for 22 years due to fear of the pokots.
This time around the solution to a recurring problem shall be solved once and for all.

You will kill them today and their children will still do the same things. Doing the same nonesense and expecting different results is madness.

The british saw kikuyus as aggressors, put them in concentration camps and committed massacres. Did that change the sentiments of the people?

What do you think will make them live in peace with all their neighbours? Vacating all land or bribing them with livestock time and time again?

If you would have done your reading, you will have noticed China is taking a different approach with the Uyghurs.

Rather than primitive brutalising as you propose, China is re-educating its Uyghur population to better fit into the society China is building.

I know this won't satiate your blood lust but put some thought into this: Why is it that all the brutalising Canada and Australia did to indigenous populations didn't work, yet New Zealand's approach did?

What China is doing to the Uyghur is human rights abuse on such a scale that a whole people and culture is forgotten and you bring it up as a good example to follow? In what way are the Uyghur doing what the Pokot bandits are currently doing?

You are taking your analogies too far. The Pokot are not the kind of people you can brutalize at will without weighty consequences.

perhaps carrot and stick method is needed,open up the area , build more schools, hospitals,roads, police stations,settle other tribes there for intermarriages etc.if they're still terrorizing people in the name of pastures, they should be just be castrated especially those residing in worse hit areas, coz am sure they personally know the perpetrators.

What is the point of going to war? The primary purpose would be to actively diminish/eliminate the capabily of the agressor to take hostile action. Hit where it hurts. Covertly disrupt their economy especially animal based, isolate/ostricize/criminalize their leaders, nationalize assets of those that encourage/benefit from banditry. Declare martial law in the region and restrict movement. Encourage intra-ethnic rivalry by playing favourites. Reward conformity to national norms. Subsidize boarding schools outside the region to educate future the generation.

Thats better than shooting some random youths armed or not.

Human rights abuse according to whom? The West, the very people who bomb weddings for target practice?

So killing the Pokot is less of a human rights abuse than re-educating them? What logic is this?

Culture has never been static. A culture has to consistently weed itself of what is not right for its own propagation. In this case, banditry is poisonous to building a peaceful and prosperous community. Re-educate them to get rid of such thinking, and provide the means to them leading the new life envisioned for them.

The Uyghurs have resorted to terrorist attacks to rid themselves of the Chinese state. The previous strategy of treating them like terrorists wasn't working as that ended up radicalising even the innocent among them.

All this you've written was done to the Somalis and guess what, they are the very same ones hiding elements of Al Shabab among them, and even resorting to chasing away "nywele ngumu."

It is you who brought up murdering them and as you have rightly mentioned, expect consequences.

You cannot limit ideas and experiences to what you think is right for you, even if it goes against your bloodlust. These analogies are to help you expand your horizons, not stick to what has been tried and failed consistently the world over.
