Kuna madharau JTL walinionyesha a few months ago, I will never engage them again.... Shauri yao their time has come.

You know it is fairly easy to track a starlink device as long as it is connected to power, yes?

It is literally connected to a private network of satellites

True, if you observe it at times... You realize that the dish pans and tilts depending on the location of satellite(s) up there.

Going forward I expect FTAs (satellite) providers to offer internet services in addition to TV channels.

For example,

Eutelsat 36A and B can offer something tangible to @mzeiya other than just those NatGeo schedules.

They still do not understand the Kenyan market. If one can afford to rent the device at 1950/month, one could also afford to buy it outright, especially at the expired offer price of Kshs 29,999. The 1950/month price would have been right for a rent-to-own kind of arrangement. What is the most expensive rented item in a Kenyan household, on average? Nothing. Kenyans are hostile to renting household items other than the house.

EDIT: It could be by rental they meant hire purchase, which should have been clarified in the adverts.

Yes, very apt extrapolation.

Hawana bahati. There is nothing much the government can do apart from banning the kits, which would be challenged, or over-taxing them to discourage purchase. Alternatively, local firms should make internet more affordable. There is considerable local internet demand that remains unfulfilled due to high pricing. If the prices were right, the satellite kits would have found very few buyers.
