Detectives in Nanyuki have launched an investigation after the body of a middle-aged woman was found in one of the rooms at the famous Nyakio Guest House. According to sources, the woman is suspected to have committed suicide. She reportedly checked into the guest house on Wednesday. Her body was discovered the next day by room attendants.The body has since been taken to the mortuary. A postmortem will also be conducted to establish the cause of her death. This latest incident comes at a time when suicide cases are on the rise in the country.Last year, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss, George Kinoti, called on the Government to commission research to determine the root cause of the worrying trend. “We have never recorded such a high number of suicides before and this is not only alarming but calls for urgent remedial measures,” Kinoti said.
