Today morning members of Nairobi Business Community held peaceful demos in the streets of Nairobi protesting high taxes by the government, the latest one being the increase in VAT from 16% to 18%.
When reached for comment, the CS for Finance said the economy was growing by 5% and that it's the duty of every patriotic citizen to pay taxes. However, the protestors said they are yet to appreciate the bottom up economic model that was in the wheelbarrow manifesto and that the cost of living was unbearable.
One protestor who had walked all the way from Ndeiya because it was expensive to fuel his Nissan Wingroad was overheard saying "Ruto sio mubaya, ni wale wamemzunguka dio wabaya"
