We Thank Ruto

There is neither group nor ideology. You just created this.
Every generation has an ideology shaped by the generation before it.

A majority of our parents grew in hardship and a terrible regime. Because of that they are very tribal. Everything about politics is viewed with a tribal lense. Mtu wetu syndrome. They are stagnant. Incapable of change.

The millenials grew up amongst people from other tribes. As a result they try and go against being bundled in tribal outfits. Their parents dislike this. Millenials play it safe.

Gen Z came into a broken down system. Collapsed heathcare and education being the most pertinent. Furthemore, they are the most liberal having been exposed to other cultures via social media from an early age courtesy of the millenials valuing the internet as a basic need. It is no wonder they are the most likely to rebel against a government because they see on YouTube, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram what they aspire their country to look like. They have a clear standard of what they want in their country. Gen Z simply don't give a shit! The end justifies the means.

People have been hurting ever since COVID but they remained hopeful that things would improve. With the election of the KK government, there was renewed hope that the economy would take a recovery trajectory. However, the overall demeanor of the current government did not inspire confidence at all. The little things stacked up rather fast to inflame emotions. The finance bill provided a single target where protestors could direct their anger. As has been witnessed, the government was caught unawares and did not even know how to respond to a mass with no clear leadership structure that could be bought, intimidated, or scandalized.

Although the bill has been passed, a crucial warning has been sounded: that regular citizens can effectively organize against the government outside of politics and political leadership. If the economic situation does not improve, the current government may not last its first term. I am sure the debate would have assumed a different tone if the government had shown a genuine commitment to curtail unnecessary expenditure.

" a crucial warning has been sounded: that regular citizens can effectively organize against the government outside of politics and political leadership"

And here lies the problem at the end of the day they will have to back a politician who will have to go the nine yards including picking a deputy .,building a coalition na kadhalika that goes into winning an election hapa ndio kila mutu ataenda njia zake .

In my humble opinion, Ruto has been a boon to Kenya in more ways than one.
Through him Kenyans have come to recognise the hypocrisy and duplicity of the Church.
It was the collusion and the conniving of the Church that Ruto got elected.
It will be no surprise if Folks start leaving the Church in droves.

Ruto continues to exhibit the callousness and the selfishness synonymous with Kenyan Pastors.
They lie to their congregations and con them money and other possessions.
They live large while their parishioners perish in abject poverty, the same way Ruto and his cronies are enjoying munching our hard earned taxes.

Note one thing, Ruto won by barely 200K votes, these young people are enough to kick him out of power if they mobilize for a massive voter registration drive

This exactly what I mean by lacking an organised political ideology.

Any time you ask a Gen Z or affiliates what their agenda is beyond just rejecting the bill in totality, it is always the same thing. "Wasituulize. They should know."

If we are not careful, the thinking, the rationale originally behind the protest will vanish and all we will be left with is an angry mob. An angry mob will lose its legitimacy very quickly and then nothing will change.

But that girl is a bimbo. Izo ni maswali za kuuliza?

I have no problem with demos. But please, don't elect the president using this kind of mobilization.
We are angry and sad. But we are not irrational. Next big agenda is to ensure mass voter registration alafu the leaders who will deserve, not by any emotional persuasion, tribe or even age will be the choice. The kids are young but not lacking a grasp of the issues we face as @Denis Young amekuwa akifafanua. Mimi ata si Gen Z but I give it up to them for the courage. Just listen to the educated comments regarding the bill from the following news report and tel me it isn't refreshing from the times of 'No Raila, no peace' and zinginezo.

It is a good question, because it interrogates the motivation of protestors beyond the finance bill. I would pose the question, if the finance bill is dropped, which immediate measures would you suggest to raise the equivalent projected revenue (300B)?

The finance bill is a starting point to pay attention to the politics and policies. Same way there was something that triggered you to start paying attention to policies and politics, what was it for you?

Let's take it that all the unregistered youth have enrolled to be voters in 2027. Now you have to find 204 new MPs to back, plus a whole new executive.

How are you going to co-ordinate the election of 204 new and 'clean' MPs? Which presidential candidate are you seeking to vote for in 2027 that won't perpetuate the same issues were are seeing?

BBI for me. I was shocked at how willingly people that I considered our seniors on this platform were to sacrifice the future of this nation on the altar of tribal politics.

I will never forget Ruto's speech at Bomas when he was being booed.

Those who supported BBI here are the same ones who are complaining about the wage bill, yet that BBI was almost doubling MPs.

It is obvious that the political class won't do anything about overrepresentation. It has to come from citizens and that is where I hope this consternation over the finance bill ends up. We could remove parliament and retain senate, remove CDF, remove nominated seats, cut salaries and their benefits. That is where the real problem is.

From millenials and our folks, note this generation largely kept away from voting, they were to cool and bourgeois for it until they realized the policies does affect them
No generation has largely kept away from voting unless you bring statistical data to prove it. JS was mostly voted for by men and women in their 20s and 30s. Ngima when was the first time you voted? How old were you? I had just left high sch when I cast the ballot during the 2010 referendum. Most of my agemates then voted too. If I'm asked why I did, I'd say it was the excitement of being a voter. They all do. Let nobody lie that young people are capable of bringing change coz they are young.
