every 10 years the government goes around counting everything, but question is,is the data used for planning or just gathering dust somewhere, .
36% of nairobians live in slums, na wanazidi kuzaana kama panya as MIL will say, taking every available spaces.
But is that not a red flag for government to act on planning? like the lapset corridor could have shifted masses to isiolo to ease pressure on nairobi dwindling resources like water, space etc. kuna ka slum hapo northern by pass runda, mbele ya two rivers it has grown very fast the past 3 years.
Either way watu watazaana na mtaa like kasarani et al will soon look like concrete slums.

On a positive note, any aspirant for Senate or gubernatorial knows where the actual votes are located.

Just know this, if your hood has those big tall mulika mwizi lights, then somewhere in the gavaments books that hood is recognised and defined as a slum.

I keep telling you, blaming the government is escapist. If people continue to breed like rats NO PLANNING can help the situation. I want you to trace the population of Germany and Nigeria for the last 40 years and then come we talk................

I get your point and agree, you can't blame govt every time, but when it comes to matters planning let's not kid ourselves, people will alway breed like rats in our region of the world.
When govt does the census, what's the purpose of collecting thst data? Just to know how many people we have in the country, diversity.... Etc?
That data should be used to plan for housing, infrastructure (not just roads) should include water, sanitation, zoning....
We should be building new cities like how Egypt has done(posted here a while ago).
So far, citizens have taken initiative and developed satellite towns(haphazardly, due to govt being MIA to control development). Govt has not brought any infrastructure, apart from the existing highways, except for thika road.
You tell me govt isn't responsible! C'mon
