President Uhuru Kenyatta is at Minjila in Garsen, Tana River County to inspect the 114km Garsen-Witu-Lamu road on his way to Lamu County to preside over the operationalization of the first berth of the new Lamu Port.
The road will facilitate the movement of cargo in and out of the new Sh. 310 billion deep sea port.

The first commercial ship, MV CAP Carmel, docks at the new Lamu Port ahead of the launch by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Cruising at an average speed of 20 knots (23 miles/hour), the ship left Dar es Salaam docked at Lamu en-route to Oman.

All these are matters policy. However, we must first stop hemorrhaging money which can be done by privatizing some parastatals, reducing recurrent expenditure and drastically cutting the development budget especially for mega projects. PPP's are the future but the have to be structured and audited. All we need is good leadership na hiyo sijui inatoka wapi.
