Tik tok can not be dismissed wholesale like that. There is a lot of very useful content you can't find elsewhere.

Just don't let it dish out content to you, you search for content that you like then like/comment on the content you like, if you do this consistently the algorithms dish out more of that

E.g search for "real african history" and start from there then like/comment on the videos you find useful

comments don't have to be meaningful, it could even be the same text like "yes yes very good" pasted every time. Then you start getting very useful videos on said subject.
