First, let me state that I know and I am very cognizant of the fact that people of sub-Saharan heritage (Blacks) frequently face racial discrimination around the world, including China. Anybody who does not acknowledge this is untruthful.
Following the much-reported Chinese incidents of discrimination, I have searched the net exhaustively to establish the veracity of the allegations made. My conclusions is that the allegations of mistreatment and discrimination are true.
But I also discovered what is NOT widely reported; what sparked the incidents.
Apparently, the genesis were two incidents, both involving - you guessed it - our brothers the Nigerians.
In the first, a Covid-positive Nigerian refused to be detained at a hospital, and even assaulted a Chinese nurse. Like a rabid dog, he viciously bit her face and left her bleeding! This was on April 2. https://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1184500.shtml
In the second incident, several days later, a group of five Nigerians, Covid-status unknown, broke kwarantaine to visit restaurants, parks and each other. Apparently they became aggressive when informed that they were supposed to be in lockdown.
The first reports of heightened discrimination came after local authorities said at least eight people diagnosed with the illness had spent time in the city's Yuexiu district, known as "Little Africa".
Five were Nigerian nationals who faced widespread anger after reports surfaced that they had broken a mandatory quarantine and been to restaurants and other public places.

Both incidents received massive coverage in Chinese social media, sparking outrage given that the Chinese themselves were strictly observing kwarantine when required.
I am not surprised that among the people trying to drive a wedge between the Chinese and 'Africans' (note the use of this generic term) is the US State Department. The same US, mind you, that has basically abandoned its Black population and incarcerates 30% of ALL Black men.
Is there discrimination of 'Africans' in China? You bet. Partly, by the way, because Chinese women are increasingly falling for black dudes and their big ding-dongs (am serious).
But in many cases, there is a back-story that vested interests don't want you to hear. There is, after all, a global struggle for control going on.

China vows improvements for Africans after discrimination claims
Africans in the industrial centre of 15 million say they have become targets of suspicion and subjected to forced evictions.
