This is Guka - Am I Being Paranoid? Rest in Peace, Wa-Kahura.

It has not been proven that we have immunity. We have a significant number of people with diabetes which has been shown to be a fatal preexisting condition. We don't know yet how it interacts with HIV but would rather protect these protect those living with it.

There is also a problem with herd immunity theory. Sweden and Spain have not achieved even 10% immunity (percentage of population with antibodies) even after so many deaths.

Great points. My concern personally is diabetes, TB and HIV. Many people don't know it, but some estimates put the number of diabetics in Kenya at anywhere between 2-4m, with most unaware of their condition. Throw in another 2.4m people with HIV or TB (though of course all these diseases are not mutually exclusive, one could have two or three) and you start to get a very scary picture.

Which is why I am finding t difficult to understand the cavalier attitude of some of our compatriots..................it's as if they won't take care until they see someone die in the streets.

But the way things are going, I think people will be dying queitly in homes, without confirmation its Covid.

The reality of things is that lockdown can not go on forever and at some stage, we will have to accept that lives will be lost before a cure or a vaccine is found.
It's the sad reality.

The issue is not whether we are going to open up, it's how we can do it without a very high death toll. The situation in Brazil is dire.

My concern is that he drops the "low level infections" so casually as if we shall be working with specimens in a controlled lab.
Wanyua Sir G. I'm afraid that waiting and seeing while testing without a plan can't be our only plot, don't you agree?

Aside, as said above, the number of guys in their 40's and 50's living with undiagnosed pre-diabetes(many) may wrongly consider themselves free of underlying conditions, but have a ka-ogre in their blood waiting to strike.

Low depends on a nations healthcare system capacity. It has been established that a very a small percentage of the infected need hospitalization and even fewer need ICU care, the threshold would therefore depend on our available isolation facilities capacity and available ICU facilities.
Am starting to think you are in healthcare. Either that or you are very smart negro.........

What kills you in Covid is not the virus but your body's exaggerated response to the infection. A throttled immunity would respond sluggishly, which is advantageous.
hueleweki. i thought immune compromised persons such as those with pre-existing conditions were most vulnerable.

He has a point about the immune response causing respiratory distress. Think of it this way. You get Covid in most cells of the lungs. the immune system responds by attacking those cells to destroy Covid but in the process destroys/inflames those cells too. You now can't breath and need a respirator. The End is near.................

Aren't you just speculating? Do we have any study that sheds light on this conclusion?
