The Poverty Paradox

I first read this story on this very interesting book: The book is nicely written and gives the story some context as it unfolds in Mexico.

It is truly amazing how material wealth is not the solution nor the remedy to every obstacle in this life albeit it enhances, lightens and even cushys against many of life’s troubles and difficulties.

Some of the most desirable states of our being:

cannot be purchased from a Grocery, Confectionery or a Cobblers’s Shop for that matter.
Often times though, we as human beings thinks that material wealth, especially riches moreso, is the panacea to all life’s ills and challenges.
We tend to forget that even if we did get all the money in the world, problems such as these will more often than not confront us:


So, what should be our attitude towards riches or lack thereof? We should do all we can within our power to better our lot and not forget that as humans we will always experience challenges, with money and wealth or without.
Without problems we wouldn’t really be human.

You are very wrong here. I actually take it as a peasant proverb.
Who says money cannot buy health? Especially in Kenya where healthcare is in a sorry state?
Heck, your wife will not respect (leave alone love) you if you are broke.

To me, money is the root of all goodness.
