My Samsung phone (j2 2015) has a weird problem, the screen is blank but I can still receive calls , alarms etc. What could be the problem?

Most probably the cable from the motherboard to the screen has a problem. I had the same issues with a Samsung Tab3.

I opened up the thing carefully and replaced it.

Pelekea fundi competent kama unaogopa kuifungua. If it's not the cable, there's a small I.C ya display. It might be faulty.

that is a sign that the phone is has reached its retirement time. You can always try and fix it but the problem will repeat itself with time.
