Swearing in of Nairobi county speaker as acting governor postponed

Swearing in of Benson Mutura, Nairobi county Assembly speaker as acting Governor of Nairobi has been postponed to Monday, December 21st following delays.

According to the constitution, swearing in of persons into public office should be between 10am and 2pm time frame. Cause of delay is yet to be established.

Mike Sonko was yesterday night impeached. The Senate upheld Nairobi county's decision to impeach him over gross misconduct, embazlement of county funds and corruption.

Former governor was accused of taking her daughter, Saumu Mbuvi to New York City for a vacation using county funds. She went to the State as a county ward clerk.

Mike Sonko has an option of moving to court to appeal the decision made by the Senate. He is yet to address the county. The former governor has however changed his Facebook bio from 'Nairobi governor' to 'Video creator'
