Elders, How come it is soo prohibitivly expensive flying to china? Was doing some price comparison and damn, the cheapest flight starts from around 2900 dollars....i thought with the increasing trade between China and the world, that travelling there would not be as expensive...ni how?

True plus china has not opened up to many countries citizens since corona and I think they like it since they have realized they can still trade with the rest of world without having people visit their country.
Have a feeling they will make it very hard to get their visa even after the pandemic is over unlike previously when it was straightforward!!
In 2019 you could fly to china for as low as 50k

Really? No wonder kuna jamaa alikuwa anasema how he has gone to China, lakini when i saw the prices, i was like no way that dude paid that much money for a ticket.
Weeh, currently if you are flying anywhere from Kenya, i think China would rank among the most expensive tickets to acquire.
 
I am told that Kenya is the only country in the region offering direct flights to china. A close friend missed an economy class ticko and he had to part with about 4900usd.
Just less than a month ago...

Major airlines are barely flying to China.
The busiest route from Nairobi was the one to Guangzhou but as of now, there are no flights including the direct KQ one meaning you'd first have to fly to another destination and connect.
New normal and the situation is replicated elsewhere
