During this dry season, most vegetables will be scarce due to the lack of water. This is the perfect time to grow spinach! Spinach grows fast, needs little space, and with some irrigation, you can supply the market when demand is high.
Unlike the rainy season, when "kienyeji" vegetables grow on their own, dry seasons offer a chance to stand out with your produce. Use the profits from spinach to accumulate funds for a bigger project . Turn this challenge into an opportunity!
It's the easiest crop to grow ,To plant 1 acre of spinach, you will need approximately 3-4 kilograms (3000-4000 grams) of spinach seeds, depending on the variety and spacing.
It will take 21days in the nursery and less than 45 days after transplanting. Spinach also does better when planted directly.
With good management you can be able to harvest for more than 4months . What you need is a good irrigation system and a good spray program. Also make sure if you are to spray pesticides you spray the ones that have low PHI (Pre harvest intervals) eg nibecidine.
Let's grow clean food and healthy food!
