Somwtimes last yr, the EAC heads of states agreed to send peace keeping mission forces to DRC to protect civilians from M23 attacks. So far, only kenya and SS have sent their troops. TZ contribute their funding, but UG does nothing. Kinshasa strongly believes M23 are Rwandan forces. This is also backed by several UN reports.
So on Sat, there was an extra ordinary meeting of the heads of states since fighting had resumed. Some of the agreements included:
- An immediate ceasefire be in place- this on paper halts M23's march on Sake
- EAC states to expedite deployment of more troops to eastern DRC
- EAC Chiefs of Defence to meet this week
Tshekedi was seen angry with with the Maj Jeff nyaga, alleging that his troops are supporting M23.
According to diplomatic sources in DRC, Tshekedi thinks Uhuru was Pro-Congo, while JS is a fence sitter.
Today, there are serious demos in Goma against the Kenyan troops.
If the civilians don't want them, what are they doing then?
