I have spent the last 3 months in Tharaka north and it is quite hot. Temperatures are very high and the region is quite dry.
This week I have observed a strange phenomena where the residents choose to burn down acres of vegetation, trees and shrubs.
It's quite alarming that people have normalized burning down trees and the government is silent about it.

The easiest way to clear acres of land to prepare for the planting season is by burning
Yes, but you would not expect it to be so widely adopted, especially in arid and semi arid areas where environment conservation is a priority.

Now that I think of it, I have actually witnessed this practice in my home county
