The cabinet has resolved to forgo a one-month salary for each member, as a contribution to the drought mitigation kitty. In a resolution passed during a cabinet meeting today, President William Ruto and his team will contribute a total of ksh.22.9m as part of ksh.10b kitty fundraising effort to help purchase food items for distribution to affected residents in drought stricken counties. And as Francis Gachuri reports, the cabinet also considered the 2022 budget review and outlook paper that is a precursor to the administration’s first budget, for financial year 2023/24.

What is wrong with helping hunger-stricken Kenyans? Your preferred tingod is busy drinking aged whisky while Ruto's cabinet is doing a sacrificial thing despite them being multi-millionaires. You're so blinded by politics of hate that you can't acknowledge a kind gesture. As you said, we have a long way to go.

Senator, I did not justify anything. You can even dive into the archives as it is your nature and you will see I have said siwezi donate pesa for drought and assist people who have refused to evolve.

What I don't understand is why it pains you so much that cabinet has foregone a month's salary hadi unaita PR.

Sorry I'm not compelled. I'm not contributing anything to that paybill. My taxes are enough! If the government cares so much about the hungry Kenyans they could use my taxes to buy food instead of paying salaries to the illegal CAS positions.
