1. The Taskforce has recommended 2-6-2-4-3 to replace the initial 2-6-3-3-3 system of education.
That is:
a) Pre Primary/ECDE - 2yrs (5-6 yr olds).
b) Primary School - 6 years (7 - 12 yr Olds) Grade 1 - 6.
c) Junior Secondary School (JSS) - 2 years (13 - 14 yr olds) Grade 7&8.
d) Senior Secondary School (SSS) - 4 years ( 15 - 18 olds) Grade 9 - 12.
e) Tertiary/University - 3 years (Min of 3 years depending on the program.
2. JSS be domiciled in the existing primary schools for the following reasons;
a) Learners transiting to JSS are too young.
b) Older students in current secondary schools may bully these students due to the wide age gap.
c) Ensuring full utilization of existing structures in primary schools.
d) Primary School teachers are aware, competent in handling the needs of these young learners than their counterparts in secondary schools who are conditioned to attend to more self reliant learners.
3. KNEC to conduct summative evaluation to ensure placement for the different pathways at primary level as they transit to JSS.
4. CBC content be initiated in all TTCs.
5. Employment of more teachers to address the current shortage.
6. Recruitment, employment, staffing, placement and remuneration of Pre Primary/ECDE be done by TSC to encourage quality.
7. Internet connectivity be provided in all institutions to enhance digital learning.
8. MOE to commission a qualified group of personnel to examine and report the challenges faced during implementation of 8.4.4 system of education to prevent CBC from facing they same challenges.
Other recommendations are on:
1. Tertiary and University education
2. Funding of education
3. Equitable access to education among other areas...
