Oliech himself admitted refusing the Qatar deal was a mistake, in hindsight. If you grow up in poverty like Olunga in Lucky Summer, then get the chance to secure the bag for you and even others who depend on you, it becomes a tough choice. Besides, he proved himself in La Liga

If he “proved” himself in la liga he would still be in Europe where the quality is at.You realize old players like falcao are still in the books of clubs in la liga?
Since in kenya we don’t emphasize a lot on technical skills at a young age we have players who are bereft of some basic skills like ball control and positioning in Europe when African players go to the low leagues they are coached extensively on this and some improve eg Mariga,Wanyama etc and they end up being snatched up by the big clubs where the real money is.Lakini Olunga vile alienda china they expected he was a finished product so he was thrown straight into the deep end hence why he has not progressed as much IMO.

I say job is like any other. If you can get better pay playing for another country, bora pesa inarudi Kenya, basi unajenga nchi.

Before China he was in Sweden and the chinks actually loaned him to Girona in Spain before they sold him to the Japs.
If he was that good he would have been spotted na angekua saa kwa ligi iko na Adabu Europe or playing hata kama ni second div place kama England or Spain or Germany.
