The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has defended the distribution of government-branded items during election campaigns, saying such giveaways do not automatically amount to voter bribery or electoral offences.
 
Hundreds of police officers assemble in Ol Kalou ahead of deployment for Thursday's by-election
 
Nine candidates are contesting today's Ol Kalou by-election, with 73,480 voters expected at 144 polling stations.

The candidates include;

1. Samuel Muchina Nyagah – UDA party.

2. Sammy Douglas Kamau Ngotho – DCP Party

3. Engineer Wilson Kigwa – Jubilee Party

4. Timothy Kamau (Kariuki) – PRM Party.

5. Edwin Kariiri Muchiri – PNU

6. Stephen Wanyoike – NLP.

7. Rachael Wangui Njoroge – PDP

8. Edward Mathenge Mwaniki – Kenya Moja Movement.

9. Abdifatah Hussein (Abdulahi) – FPK.

Over 1,000 police officers, including specialised units, have been deployed to enhance security in the area.

Voting exercise started at 6am and will end by 5pm.
