NTSA is expected to collect at least Sh12 billion every year from the new mandatory vehicle inspections.
The authority is set to begin annual inspection of vehicles from July 1, with owners of vehicles older than four years required to book through the eCitizen portal.
The fee guidelines:
1. Motorcycles
KSh 200 booking fee
KSh 200 inspection fee
2. Private cars, commercial vehicles and trailers
KSh 1,000 booking fee
KSh 1,000 inspection fee
Once you book, you will be given a date to present your vehicle for inspection.
If your vehicle passes, You will receive an inspection report..An inspection sticker will be placed on your vehicle.
If your vehicle fails, You will be given 14 days to fix the defects identified during the inspection..You will then return for a re-inspection without paying the booking or inspection fee again.
Fail to comply, and you could face a fine of up to KSh 20,000, up to 6 months in jail, or both.
