Nrb to msa expressway, do we really need it?

If it costs 500 for the current 30kms expressway, si that one will cost about 7k....is it worth it?
They have the numbers that justify the expressway.
Also it is a PPP so no public money will be lost . Also the contractor will leave the current road better than it is .
Same Macharia script only this time it's different actors .

Mimi naona it's every necessary. The expressway will cut road transport to 4 hours ukienda express. Mambo ni over pass using 6 lanes one way mpaka mombasa. Kama una enda towns between mtito, voi, emali etc unaingia service lane bila kusumbua wengine. Alafu Trailers will strictly use the old Mombasa highway.
Unapata Hizo 4 hours will make buses better option than SGR. Since they are faster and can go directly to Mombasa compared to SGR which ends in mariakani.
Unfortunately Toxic Politics have sabotaged the expressway to avoid losses in the SGR.

This assumes you will travel at 110 kph for the entire journey. Private car yes possible ,PSV bus is legally pegged to travel at 80 KPH so that legal hurdle must be worked on first .

I use 10pm Buscar for my work related trips to MSA and back .My reasons are
- the security idiots that will take away your tools so that you can bribe them .Kwanza the Nairobi terminus .
- SGR on the basic class is not comfortable especially the 90° back cushion and the leg room is almost none existent.

Isn't it cheaper to extend SGR to MSA island ( to the best of my knowledge something is already happening ) .On the Nairobi side though no word on extending SGR to Railways .

Also where is the land to accommodate an expressway and still retain the current road . Hapa tunaingia kwa mtego with no way out .

There was a company called Bechtel that used to have the yUes pressure our Government to award it the tender but once awarded they'd insist that our government guarantees it against revenue shortfalls, something that would have had Kenyans paying their debts in case they say revenue was below expectations.

Do you know Kasongo cancelled Bechtel contract after they refused to share the proposed toll collection with the government. He later awarded the contract to another US firm, Everstrong Capital because they bended over and kissed his ass and followed his command. Kasongo ni mtu bladifakin

Even then Bechtel was toying with the contract seven years prior.

Hapa kuna kizungumkuti. First, they will need to use the current corridor occupied by Mombasa road. Secondly, it would harm their business if they provided a free option equivalent to the lost free road. They had also proposed owning all adjacent land to prevent any local linkages in between. Lastly, we are definitely in trouble because the investor makes all the decisions. Knowing Americans for what they are, they will make sure there are no free alternatives. Tutakuwa temeingia kwa mtego unless wajenge yao mpya wawachane na Mombasa road.

It is very much necessary and it is quite shocking that this is even a discussion.

The idea that people will stop using SGR is wrong. People are not even the biggest contributer to SGR revenue. It is cargo. That is why SGR is being expanded to Uganda at the same time with the expressway.

SGR will become the go to for anyone importing to Uganda. The road will serve people doing last mile transport. And how wonderful will it be for me to drive to Mombasa without having to worry about ramming head on into trucks.

Not if Kasongo has a straw in the pot.

If the SGR cannot pay for itself, and there is nothing free there, what about the road? They will still not be able to recoup the investment and the government, aka taxes will still be paid out to the investors....kwanza they are even forcing local pension funds to pay for the road....so you will be taxed directly for the road, taxed when getting your pension, and like KW it will still be the pension funds that will be targeted to keep the roads operations ongoing
