Not so good news

The new Government should stop blaming Uhuru and Raila for the economy. Infact if they really want to blame anyone, the culprit is jubilee term 1.

But given that we are here, it's time they tell hasolas the truth. The Ukraine war, coming of global recession, China zero COVID policy, OPEC oil cuts and drought are the major reasons why life won't be easy in the coming few years. In UK they're now predicting that the economy won't recover until mid 2025!

So, same as the predicted time for Kenya? The government also intends to eliminate the budget deficit in 3 financial years by cutting unnecessary expenditure.

This is 100% impossible!
It is an intention. Whether they achieve it 100% is neither here nor there. If they cut it by 50% it will be a massive achievement. There is no way we are borrowing close to 1 trillion, and a deficit that seemed to increment year on year. Cutting back is welcome.

We all have good intentions. But then there's the reality. This is budget deficit data for Kenya last 25 years. To reduce it to zero we either raise extra revenues of 1 trillion while maintaining the expenditures or we reduce expenditures by 1 trillion. Unaona ikiwezekana?

As a starting point, we can reduce it by 700m if we close the 2bn daily blackhole that Konyagi talked about.
