KENYA Kenya Met Issues Cold Weather Alert as Temperatures Fall to 4°C in Some Areas

Kenyans in several counties are set for a week of biting cold, with some areas expected to record temperatures rarely seen outside the country's coldest seasons.
Weather experts are also forecasting rainfall across multiple regions, creating a mix of chilly mornings, cloudy skies and occasional showers While some towns prepare for near-freezing nights, other parts of the country are expected to remain hot.
A sharp drop in temperatures and widespread rainfall are expected to shape this week's weather across many parts of Kenya. Kenya Met predicted rainy conditions and cold temperatures in some counties this week.
According to the seven-day outlook, the coldest weather is expected in parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley and areas around Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Nyahururu is projected to record the lowest temperatures in the country at 4°C, followed by Narok at 6°C, Kericho at 7°C and Eldoret at 8°C. The weatherman also noted that intermittent cold and cloudy conditions are likely to persist in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley and sections of North-eastern Kenya.
Despite the chilly nights, temperatures are expected to rise above 30°C in parts of the Coast, North-eastern and North-western regions during the day. Counties to experience rainfall this week
The forecast indicates that rain will be experienced in many counties across western, central and coastal Kenya. Counties expected to receive rainfall include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira and Kericho.
Other counties likely to experience showers include Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Narok, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi.
In Nairobi and other parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, mornings are expected to be largely cloudy, with occasional rainfall before sunny intervals emerge later in the day.
