Makes one wonder, don’t men realise that for every additional maku they acquire, an opportunity cost arises.

And not just in monetary terms only. Extra makus do not make you happier beyond a certain point the same way more and more salt does not make your food delicious.

And that is even before we talk of peace of mind assured when you are dealing with fewer people than more people.

Some people find happiness in chaos and peace of mind is too safe and can be too boring for adrenaline junkies.
The only thing better than maku is new maku and sometimes the pursuit of new maku makes this meaningless boring life worth living.

Your point contradicts itself.
Having a second wife is building the country, kama uko na uwezo people should take up second wives.
To put my point in perspective.
You build two houses, you've created jobs.
You shop for two houses, you educate kids, you open a business for your wives, you buy two vehicles... Hope you get the point, everything comes in twos....

That's a liability and a form of consumption not an investment!
Its not your responsibility, as a consumer, to create jobs that's the work of the government and investors not consumers

Anything that takes money out of your pocket is a liability, the money spent on the second house car, school fees etc is money that would be invested in income generating projects thus creating real jobs as and adding income to your pocket.

Lets be honest ! Those arab countries are ahead because of oil period! They would even have been much further if they had focussed on investments instead of conspicuous consumption.
As we speak, Norway, with less much less oil revenue. has one of the largest sovereign wealth funds $ 1.1 trillion compared to saudi $347 billion.

Polygamy back in the day, was useful as a source of free labour and helped increase wealth in a family, in today's context, it only serves to annihilate wealth and deplete land resources.
