Mzeiya in Kibera

Nikuulize, how is Olympic Esto able to remain so serene yet iko Kibich? Very interesting.
I don't know enough about the dynamics of Olympic.
What I do know, however, is there's a very nice rocky perch from where I can see @Pamba 1 approaching two hundred meters away in all directions as I self -medicate. 😁
From that perch you see this, then realize there's hope.
Right in the middle of ostensible squalor, a gem of a court.

Clearly neither government sponsored nor a 'gift' of political patronage coz we'd never hear the end of it.
Those twats will put up a bodaboda shed then call a press conference, then pay for the centre spread of tomorrow's newspaper to show us their good work.

Great post ka-Dynasty as always!

Kibich is a very cool place. You wouldn't know it if you looked at the pictures appearing in the international media of effluent and mitaros. Some of the greatest people in the world also live here, and I agree with most that it is among the safest of Nairobi's low income neibahoods. Only problem I have with the place, it is very easy to get entrapped by an under-18 - unaweza ingia club na ni huto tutoto tumejaa. Ukikunywa WhiteKAP sita unaanza kuona zako.

Could your tour of duty have had something to do with CrimeSiPoa and Peter Ouko?

I would take lunch every day at a different kibandaski with a certain pointee lady. Furthest I went was the place near Prestige and even saw that the road that will link Ngong & Langata Rds has made a lot of construction progress

It was once a separate and distinct estate but kibera grew around it:( Enda ngara and parts of parklands and see how the markets have grown around peoples houses:oops:

@mzeiya this is a great post. Napenda sana also well taken photos..Apparently i grew up in Kibera and schooled there. Yes in Laini Saba. Kwanza nilianza mashimoni primary then Glory primary hapo linii. We used to stay in Soweto karibu na reli. Kitambo Nairobi dam wasnt as polluted with human sewage as it is. Tulikuwa tunaenda duff mpararo hapo. Silanga was just a wetland not as it is today. Well human settlement and urbanization has changed all this and the dam is no more. I would say you have an opportunity to change lives mostly for the young guys while you are there. Great work

Sometime things arent as they look. Unajua baba was Langata MP for a long time and he never impacted me in any way. For instance nikiwa compus i had to visit the CDF office (hapo kwa DO) so many times to beg for bursary but in vein. Sikuwai pata me thinks ni juu i wasnt a Luo. Nathink the name Njoroge really contributed to me missing bursary alot. But God is good he opened other opportunities and i completed my studies. Then as fate would have it, i got a job and was posted in the Luo nyanza and i then married a Luo. I would say baba never impacted me in anyway though i really appreciate his fight for democracy in the country. i have even voted for him twice.

Sometimes Bishop Wanjuru (she was starehe mp) could come and distribute food stuff mostly hapo Soweto. She once came on Chrismas eve and distributed unga ya ngano. Since mum had gone for hustle, i pangad line and got five bags of unga. This meant a life for us since mum had told us to prepare tokauche since hakuwa na pesa. So i guess you can know who impacted us most. Leo nikisikia Magret Wanjiru i alwys remember tht Chrismas eve. Ile time alikuwa na covid 19 i prayed God akumbuke how she brought food to us.

This aside, i would say its the common people we live with tht largely impact and influence our lifes the most. Politicians kazi yao ni PR. God uses the common people to do uncommon things

Thanks i appreciate your reply. I just wanted an insiders' outlook of the political position over time. Actually i have a lower opinion about politicians than you.
