Indeed. Its melody and rhythmic power is is absolutely appealing! Two of the most renowned accordion players in Kenya are H.M Kariuki and Cinda Gikombe. I must also include Wanganangu here.

What the Mwomboko accordionist does is very limited, as the use in that genre is limited to providing a basic rhythm and chords for the singer.
The instrument is still manufactured and popular in Europe (Gypsy music, French Chansons) and US cities like New Orleans (Zydeco).
If you want to hear the full musical range of the instrument, listen to the late Regis Gizavo from Madagascar and Marc Barthoumieux (France, Jazz).
