Tanzania has unveiled a $43 million cargo and passenger ship built locally in the Lake Victoria port of Mwanza.

It is East Africa's largest locally manufactured fresh water passenger and cargo ship with the capacity to carry 1,200 people, 400 tonnes of cargo and 20 vehicles.

They almost lost this project to crafty firms, the kind that will accept a job despite knowing that they are a few months away from bankruptcy or takeover by a different firm, just like the Kimwarer dams. The TZ government had to resort to unconventional tactics, like confiscating the travel documents of the people involved, to prevent them from leaving the country.
