Isn't it ironic that, after domesticating maize and deriving sustenance from the same for 7000 years, and gifting it to the world for free, Mexico had to rely on US firms for seeds to grow maize. Yet, the same firms cannot domesticate even one new crop. How about they start with the same wild grasses and come up with a new crop that is superior to maize.
Evidently, humans take food crops for granted, not realizing they would still be hunting and gathering were it not for the effort and genius of the pioneers who domesticated food crops.
