Mega Projects - Kenya .

I am not a Futurama fan .
Currently we have mega Projects being undertaken but the manner in which they are being pushed is suspect .Some of the projects are necessary but some are meant to line the tumbocrats pockets .
I am seeing a scenario where the ruling class are pushing projects whether loan financed , PPP or otherwise so that they get their cut or some to reinvest the billions they have stolen . I highly suspect the consortium that is handling Nairobi Expressway has some locals who want to reinvest corruption proceeds na sijataja family moja . Why is there rush to build TMall and Kenyatta Avenue viaduct now . Ideally we should be decentralizing but instead we are choking Nairobi with all sorts of traffic . Development is welcome but the cost is what will finish us .

Any sensible city planner, architect, or even an environmentalist knows the Nairobi expressway is completely unnecessary. we can not be seeking to increase the concrete at the expence of our open spaces. And what's the cost? More than 1B per kilometre. Factoring inflation and other things like technology, can the cost even go beyond half a billion? Where are the village civil engineering QSes?
