Reminds me of ocha kwetu where many people engage in rearing broilers. Siku ya kuchinja, posters used to be put up kijijini since the chicken feet, necks, heads, gizzards and all the other stuff wouldn't be bought by the brokers.
Sasa kulikuwa na sale and I remember really enjoying the mara which were the least desirable stuff and often given out for free to pig rearers.
Me and the other ihee would get them, clean thoroughly and use a wire to split them apart in order to properly clean the villi. Hiyo sasa tukichoma ilikuwa sherehe kuruka.
Sasa shingo na feet would also make a nice stew. The feet I remember had a funny name; sondora

my mum was that lady with the broilers, kukichinjwa liver, neck na gizard zilikuwa zinakujiwa mostly na bar owners. Intestines na makanyagio zinachukuliwa na guys running slum butcheries. sasa kulikuwa na kakitu fulani tulikuwa tunaita roho (it was not the heart as heart ilikuwa inaenda na maini), you seperate it fast from the intestines before ziunzwe/given out, ukipata kama 30 hivi tunaenda kukaranga, memories are made from such

Memories truly are wonderful. Simple times, happy lives.
Remember how the slaughter line was efficient? Nilikuwa nazubaa just how fast a live hen could become slaughtered chicken in a matter of minutes. Sasa multiply that by a few hundreds
