Okiya is right. China "dumping" policy destroyed West African countries' textile industry. Compounded by the fact China is producing cheaper and low quality of African fabrics.

agree, in the textile industry source and cost of fabric is very important, plus the economies of scale matter, the fabric used for that overall is nonwoven polypropylene fabric and on alibaba i can see retail pricing at about 2 usd per kg, even making a crazy assumption 2kg per overall that is like 400bob for the fabric, with low cost of power and economies of scale, even those alibaba guys are making a decent return at 800 bob.

as for kitui sijui wanatumia fabric gani, if they are using local fabric it must be expensive, but I doubt rivatex does that type of fabric, and makueni produces cotton that is used to make the kawaida mechanic like overalls.

sure china for some reason has found a way of producing extremely cheap fabric, considering that india has also been flooding other markets with their cheap fabrics.
I mean even in kenya the Indians played some part in killing the local textile industry, and its funny that they would complain of the same, China has and is continuing to turn global trade/production on its head, dont know if its government subsidies, forced labor, or whatever the case is, but they have found way producing extremely cheap products.
